After School Programs - South Orlando

The JCC’s after school program is unparalleled in terms of quality and diversity of programs. That means that when your children participate in after school programs at the JCC, they experience activities for all of their talents and interests. With everything from basketball to kickball to cheer to art to dance, kids have fun, and learn something, too.

J University

Our well-supervised after-school program provides enriching activities for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Participation in J University makes after-school time enjoyable for you and your child.

Transportation

Our goal is to make life easy for parents, and afternoons fun for kids. That’s why we provide buses to the following local elementary schools, so that parents have just one less thing to worry about: Thornebrooke, Metro West, Windermere, Windy Ridge, Palm Lake, Sand Lake, Dr. Phillips, and Bay Meadows. If you don’t see your school on the list, give us a call! Adding additional schools is always a possibility depending of number of children enrolled and our bus routes.

Hours of Operation

J University is open Monday-Friday, after school until 6:00 p.m., except on certain Jewish holidays. We are, however, open all day on many days that local schools are closed. We call those days “School Out Days,” each of which is themed for a day of fun and activities. School Out Day hours are 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Our program follows the Orange & Osceola Counties school calendars.

A Second Home

Kids love coming to see their friends at J University after school. We provide a home-away-from-home atmosphere, providing children with a snack when they arrive. We also will help your children with their homework. That’s just one less thing you have to worry about when you pick them up after work.

Program Options

Choose from one to five days per week, with or without transportation. Drop-in is also available for $20 with transportation, $15 without transportation.

Enrichment Classes

Choose a more specialized after school experience by enrolling in our enrichment classes. These classes are all taught by professionals in their fields, and are open to those enrolled or not enrolled in our J University after school program. Here’s an idea of the types of classes we offer.

JCC the Musical

Music from popular musicals. Grades 4-7. Presented by Theatre South: A Center for the Arts.

Gymnastics

Flexibility, balancing, and tumbling in relation to gymnastics skills. Grades K-5.

Dance Party

Rhythm and fun choreography in this action-packed class. Grades K-6.

Chess Club

Learn the basics of chess with instruction for the first hour and play games for the second hour. Grades 1-6.

Cheerleading

Basic cheers, jumps, formations, and basic tumbling. Grades K-5.

Youth Soccer League

Players will practice on Thursdays and be placed on teams for Sunday games. Pre-K-5.

Karate

Self-discipline and self-defense to build confidence. Grades K-5.

Yoga

Introduction to Yoga positions, breathing, and language. Grades K-5.

Private Music Lessons

Children and adults in voice, piano, acting, drumming, guitar, ukulele and other musical instruments. Call 407-387-2743 for more information on Theatre South private lessons.
