The JCC’s J University after school program is unparalleled in terms of quality and diversity of programs. That means that when your children participate in J University, they each get to build a customized schedule of classes that suits their talents and interests. With everything from karate to tennis to cheer to art to dance, kids have fun, and learn something, too.

Transportation

Our goal is to make life easy for parents, and afternoons fun for kids. That’s why we provide buses to the following local elementary schools, so that parents have just one less thing to worry about: Dommerich, Lake Sybelia, Lake Highland, Audubon Park, Brookshire, Maitland Montessori, Park Maitland, Bear Lake, Wilson, and Heathrow. Students at the Jewish of Academy of Orlando are escorted by a JCC staff person at 3:15 p.m. across campus to J University. If you don’t see your school on the list, give us a call! Adding additional schools is always a possibility depending of number of children (usually 3) enrolled and our bus routes.

Bus transportation is included for children enrolled in our Full or 5-Day J University programs. If you would like to enroll your children in our classes a la carte, or only attend a few days per week, bus pick-up costs $35 per enrolled day (i.e. every Monday) per 9-week session.

Hebrew School

If you would like to enroll your child in Hebrew school, we can pick your child up from school, bring them to the JCC for a snack, and then take them to one of the following schools on Wednesdays: Congregation of Reform Judaism, Congregation Ohev Shalom and Temple Israel. This service is included in Full and 5-Day J University, or you can select this a la carte for $65 per month.

Hours of Operation

J University is open Monday-Friday, after school until 6:00 p.m., except on certain Jewish holidays. We are, however, open all day on many days that local schools are closed. We call those days “School Out Days,” each of which is themed for a day of fun and activities. School Out Day hours are 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Our program follows the school calendars of Orange and Seminole Counties, Park Maitland School, St. Mary Magdalene Catholic School, and the Jewish Academy of Orlando.

A Second Home

Kids love coming to see their friends at J University after school. We provide a home-away-from-home atmosphere, providing children with a snack when they arrive. We also have a dedicated Homework Room, with a teacher available to assist with homework. That’s just one less thing you have to worry about when you pick them up after work.

Our Staff

J University classes are all taught by professionals in their field. Choose to take basketball with former Orlando Magic Basketball player Anthony Bowie, or a performing class with a Disney cast member. We emphasize low staff-to-child ratios.

Program Options

Full J University: Choose this option if you would like after school care everyday, as well as on all of our School Out Days (excluding winter and spring break) from September to May. This option includes Hebrew School transportation. In order to enroll in Full J University, you must become a JCC member.

5-Day J University: Choose this option if you would like after school care everyday, but would like to enroll a la carte in School Out Days. This option includes Hebrew School transportation. In order to enroll in Full J University, you must become a JCC member.

Part-Time J University: Choose this option if you would like after school care on particular days, but would like to enroll a la carte in School Out Days. In order to enroll in Part-Time J University, you must become a JCC member.

A la Carte: Choose this option if you would like to enroll your child in classes here and there, or just on particular days of the week.
